2009 Recap

I'm trying to remember what happened this year, since it is so nearly over. There is probably so much that I have forgotten, but these are the bits that stand out to me now...

I started my first year on the Visual Arts degree. (Last year was an Art and Design Certificate). And met some awesome people, can't wait to catch up with them when semester starts again!

James went on a meditation retreat with Nick.

I learnt how to do book binding! This was probably one of the best parts of my degree this year. I hope to do more next year in my spare time.

We made a trip to Langs beach with our friend Sam. This was a major highlight in the year as I haven't been up North very much and it was the most beautiful, relaxing time.

I listened to Taylor Swift FAR too much. I am ashamed...

This year I actually tried to partake in Halloween and had a great time dressing up as Pikachu!

My friend Jo is dressed as a Hobo and is normally very beautiful =)

I had amazing chats with Juliette who always inspires me and reminds me what friends and kindness are all about <3

Polly had a craft stall at Kraftbomb once a month and I helped out a couple of times when I could. She has amazing toys and is also a wonderful friend who makes Auckland not seem like such a lonely place.

Polly and I also started to go running this year, a first for me but I have come to really enjoy it, if not just for the conversation!

My good friend Jessica came to see me a few times, which I am so grateful for otherwise I would not have seen her! I must try to return the favour next year.

I fell even more in love with my boy.

I turned 20!

My amazing Grandmother, Olive turned 88 just before Christmas. She is a beautiful soul who I thoroughly love and admire.

I saw Avatar! Such a great movie =)

Summer Days

Christmas is over and we are back in Auckland briefly so I can work two days, then we are headed back home to celebrate new years eve tomorrow night. Ah, so much driving!
Christmas was good, spent it with my Dad, Nan and sister. We had some time catching up with friends the other couple of days, it's nice when everyone is back in a same place at the same time and somehow without any planning it all comes together.
I am not looking forward to the drive down tomorrow, I hope the roads aren't too busy!

Happy New Year everyone!

Teacups Galore

So it has caught on that I love teacups and I have been spoiled by my lovely friends. Polly got me an entire set! Sooo sweet.

The cups are so teeny tiny! I also received this beauty from Chas from work as a secret santa gift, so perfect. <3

I'm dying my hair, photos later! L xo

Busy, busy

Christmas is less than a week away so work was crazy today. I'm glad to have a couple of days off.
Emma's stay was wonderful, even though I wasn't home for most of it =( We had a great time at Akron/family and had a surprise visit from our good friend James. K! Best gig this year. Here are some photo's, I'm not a very skilled photographer but I did my best..

Thumbprint cookies

I made these cookies last night while James was out, I got the recipe from Sometimes Sweet and they turned out pretty good. I did overcook them a little though while I was on a phone...

I've been out today trying to find a secret santa present for a girl at work. Man, people are crazy this time of year! L xo

Family

Tonight we have James' little sis Emma coming for a visit, I am so happy to have her stay and it should be lots of fun. We are headed out tonight to see Akron/family play at the Kings Arms with Miriam and Juliette.

I'm going to try take lots of photo's this time! L xo

Bird Paintings

Something new! Despite working full time and feeling like I have no life for myself, it's probably not at all as dramatic as I think, and these prove it. I have managed to find time to paint four little birds on wood blocks that my Dad gave me (all while watching my fav new show The Wire).

James has been very busy on photoshop making some amazing pictures, check them out on his blog <3

Us before Animal Collective =) I only have a couple more things on my christmas list to get, feeling good! L xo

Animal collective

Last night was a Animal Collective show and we went with Juliette and Miriam. I had so much fun, but didn't take my camera which I thoroughly regret. Also, it would have been awesome if I wasn't so short. =)

I made a quiche for tea last night, success!

I took today off work so we are going to catch up on Gallery visits and head to the beach!

Ghost Town

I abandoned the blog for a wee while. I haven't had time to do anything lately because I'm working so much, I am completely shattered by the end of the week. However, I have had these books up my sleeve since early November when uni finished and I made the most of the book binding room before it closed.

They are soft covered card with a hand painted banner and personalised name. I made James a mini one from the off-cuts as his "ideas" book.

Typically the weather has been terrible on my days off and brilliant when I am stuck inside at work, but here are some snapshots from November when the weather was fine and we went exploring in the suburbs of Auckland!

Feeling Good

I got my essay marks back, I got an A! So I have passed theory which rocks. My open day/exhibition was today, thanks to everyone that checked it out =) I've been keeping busy with looking at inspiring blogs and even doing a bit of creating myself, feels good to just do it for fun!

I carved this from some left over lino, only cut my finger once!

Finished!

So this is what has been keeping me sooo busy for the last month. My final work for the end of year exhibition is finished and I am officially on holiday - already!

It was hand-printed with lino blocks and I am very happy with the end result. I have a couple of weeks until I start work full time, so until then I am hoping to do some small projects around the house. I really can't believe that my uni year is over! L xo

P.S. I thought this was hilarious.
