Polish

I went and saw Boy (mentioned in an earlier post) and it was as awesome as I thought it would be. I totally recommend checking it out if you get the chance, it's a good laugh.

Today I snagged a couple of nail polishes while on my way to a gallery. Only $8 each and pretty good quality. No chipping so far (amazing since I manage to slam, scrape and jam my hands through a day) and with a couple of coats the colour is great.

Kung Fu Blue and Shadow Puppets. I was really into it after seeing this picture of Alexa Chung:

Only one more day of uni and then Easter Break (when I'll stress about all the work I should have done for my brief due the Monday back after the holidays). Ahhh...

Fast and Delirious

Last week was crazy, I was so busy. That's by my standard, I bet from someone else's point of view it was actually pretty ok. I'm dramatic. This is a little of what I've been doing:

Small woodcuts to be printed on tissue paper (maybe). My other work is in the print studio so I'll have to take the camera and snap a few photos of the process. I am expecting this week to be even more full on as I have to get as much done as possible before the Easter break.

I finally watched Wendy and Lucy which I have been wanting to see for a while. It has the lovely Michelle Williams and follows the story of a young woman on the road with her dog.

I liked it but... it made me feel awful. I was down and out for the rest of the night and the following day. If you watch make sure you don't have to deal with mean mechanics the next day... (sucky)

Edge of Love

I watched The Edge of Love a couple of weeks ago and I can't get the amazing wardrobe and Welsh coastline out of my head.

I been super busy this week, everything is happening at once. The Thomas Ruff talk was good, even if he was jet-lagged. L xo

Moonshiner

It's starting to get a bit chilly here in Auckland. After seeing these beautiful photos on weheartit I wish it snowed here in winter. Just a little...

I've been printing like crazy, my arms are killing me from the heavy roller I'm using. Tomorrow night I am excited to be going to a talk by Thomas Ruff. I was really into his work last year when I was doing my large black stamp/star work and it will be good to hear what he has to say. This is his piece that really interested me:

We went and saw Green Zone tonight. It was really good, but I don't do so well with shakey cam and I got motion sickness =( Worth seeing however. L xo

Quilting-ish

One of our blankets is a hand-me-down from my parents and is very tatty and faded, but still ok for a summer night. So I've been slowly trying to cover it up with patches. I haven't got a sewing machine and have no idea how to quilt, but it's going ok.

The old part is the grey-blue-yellow fabric, and I've covered the other side completely in the blue. It's going to take forever to finish this side, but when it is I'll post pictures. It's nice to have a project to do while watching Michael Palin (our new night time watch).

I am trying my hand at woodcut relief print at uni. I'm a bit nervous to cut into these nice new sheets of wood however in case I muck it up (and have to break the bank buying new ones).

Wish me luck! L xo

St Pat

It's St Patrick's day today and I forgot to put something green on this morning, but I'll have a drink later to make up for it. I'm not one to celebrate... anything really. But I hope everyone's having a lovely day anyway!

Maybe I'll bust out my tin whistle later and freestyle some Danny Boy. Oh yes, I have a small amount of talent...

Time Goes By

It's hard to think that I've been back at uni for two weeks, it feels like much longer! I've been full on this week with two assessments due, but now it's the weekend and (apart from work) time to relax (but not too much).
This is one of the works assessed today:

Despite being so busy I did manage to get along to two movies. The first was Alice in Wonderland, which I enjoyed, pretty much. I have no attachment to the story so I was totally fine with the differences and additions.

The second was Remember Me, because Chaz won tickets to the premier and I was lucky enough to go with her, and because she's super lovely. It was good. During the movie I thought the story was weak, but in the end it was good. I suggest if you want to see this movie, don't read anything about it because it will spoil it. Oh and Rob Pattinson.... swoon.

Hope you have had a good week! L xo

Sunday Sun

Today was a great Sunday, however I had planned to work hard on a project for uni and I haven't got around to it yet, it's past tea time. Typical. But we did go rent movies, bought a cd (xmas vouchers, yeh!) and watched ridiculous amounts of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
I'm enjoying being back at uni for the most part, just busy! We have been working with paper...

And listening to one of my favourite ladies, Chan Marshall of Cat Power.

Hope your weekend is lovely! L xo

Home Sweet Home

I love The Selby, and this place is magical. I could definitely settle down in a place like this one day, with it's wild yet managed yard and garden.

Lucky couple! L xo

March!

I can't believe we are already into the third month, it's going by so quickly. I had my second day of uni and I feel as if all the goals I had have gone out the window. But I have to refocus and get stuck in, 2010 is a no-slack year!

I hope March started well for you! L xo
