It All Ends

harry potter and the deathly hallows 300x168 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 New Scenes!

My childhood is officially over. It's weird that the end of this series seems more of a milestone than my own 21st birthday. But alas, it's over... until they remake it twenty years from now.

And yes... I went to the premier. But let the record show I did NOT dress up. I only did that for the book release....

Bikes + Babes

I have conquered Auckland City by bike! And it's hard work. We have a lot of hills here and I can feel pretty good about getting some exercise, (a new thing for me). I am still getting used to the cars and buses but I'm obsessed with safety so you can see me out there blinking like a Christmas tree with all my lights. But I can easily say I love it, and here's a bit of inspo from the lovely Calivintage with her tumblr Bikes + Babes! L xo

My Exhibition!

I haven't been blogging for a while because I've been concentrating on uni, this year is a busy one, there aren't enough hours in the day. But here is the latest that I've been up to. For the 3rd and final year of my degree we are expected to curate our own exhibition in randomly selected groups. I happened to get a very lovely group of girls so the experience has been pretty good, though stressful at times when it feels like there is no end in sight. The title of our exhibition was Exposed Happenings, with a common theme of time running through all of our works. Here's what the final show looked like.

Works by Sonia Aurelio

Kayla Humphreys

Alicia Pang

Franziska Poeschl

Fay Carey

And Me!

The space I was allocated was perfect to display in, but terrible to photograph. But overall I was happy with how it looked and proud of how it all came together. Now... mid-year assessment to go...

New Works

Here's some newer works I've done. Uni is mental, my final year is shaping up to be my craziest. My group and I are preparing for our exhibition, it's a lot of work. Plus we have the worst time to have it, right before Mid-year assessment. But, at the same time I'm trying to make the most of it, because when this is all over I have no plan, and I will have no studio.

In other news, tomorrow is James and my 5 year anniversary. Time has flown by, we are going out to dinner to celebrate. It's been a great 5 years and I hope for many more with my best friend. L xo

The land of the Walking

As I mentioned in my last post my poor car is out of action. We got a diagnosis and it wasn't good, so we have decided to let it go and will probably sell it to a wreckers or something. I'm pretty gutted, I've had it since I was 15 and have been everywhere in it, not to mention not having a car feels pretty scary. So now I am amongst the world of public transport and walking, but it's not all bad.... I found a bag of chocolate bars when I was on the bus the other day! Ha!

Thursday

My car broke down nearly 3 weeks ago (eeek!) and I have no idea what to do, whether to take it in and see how quickly the mechanic can make me cry or just let it go. It's a hard decision, and an uninformed one for now. So I wait. But in the meantime I have been walking everywhere. Long, impossible walks. But the upside is the photos I've been able to take, though walking with the camera makes it even harder.

I've also been really sick the last couple of days, typically for me I have something due tomorrow. I always manage to time these things perfectly. Sigh.

I am ridiculous.

So now that I am back at uni I feel that I have more time to do things like this... which is pretty bad for my time management. But I want to show off what I have been doing lately - it has taken me 4 weeks to come up with these works, which is far too long. But after working all summer it took me a while to even begin to think about art.

So I have learnt to stretch my own canvas, which is really satisfying but stressful and hard. However, I am taking an easy route and stretching with synthetic fabrics instead. I'm cool like that. I've also been shoving fabric through my printer at home, saving myself a lot of money instead of going to the super expensive (but still awesome) digital fabric printing place. If only my printer would print larger than a4...

Oh, and Happy New Year. Heres to 2011! L xo
