Stress stress stress

Ok, so lets just pretend I finished that 30 day thing. I'm completely over it and can't be bothered adding any more to my to-do list. My Year Two exhibition is this Thursday! I'm still trying to pull some work together, but it's an exciting time and I hope it comes together to be a fun night. I am trying to make the most of these opportunities I have while I am at uni, because I know that when I get out into the real world it takes a lot of work to get any sort of show. I plan on taking lots of photos to show everyone!

The Zinefest was a while ago, but these are the little zines I put together for it:

They are all the same inside, but I decided to make handmade, individual covers for them. I have so much to do before the holidays start, then it's essay work full time. Bleh. Check out the business card I made for the exhibition:

Day 26

Day 26 — Your week, in great detail:

All I have really done this week is go to work and my studio. Otherwise I am at home on the net or trying to write my essay. Last Saturday was a friends 21st where I miraculously survived home-made fireworks that seemed to be completely unpredictable, but perhaps it was just my intense fear. (I have an unexplained phobia of fireworks, it's crippling. Or maybe its not so unexplained... you know, a fear of burning to death isn't that irrational).

But tonight I remembered how much I loved 101 Dalmatians when I was a kid. It was one of the only videos I owned that wasn't taped of the telly. So I watched the first part on youtube and extreme nostalgia overcame me. Aw bless.

Such a Good Idea

Ahhh, this blog! People re-creating their younger photos. Definitely worth a look, there are some gems.

Crack up.

Day 25

Day 25 — Your day, in great detail:

Well.... this isn't going to be interesting at all. I got up, went to uni where I had a meeting about the Print Fair that will be happening next year! Then I had another meeting about the catalogue I am helping to put together from the Foyer Project earlier in the year...exciting stuff!... I then sat in my studio mucking around with ink and paint and looking at my daunting theory readings thinking I should probably make a start on that damn essay! In the afternoon I came home and trawled the internet looking at Alexa Chung pictures because she is so pretty and has amazing clothes... this prompted a long and involved internal debate on whether or not I should chop my hair short - oh the intrigue! Now I am just uploading stuff I am selling on trademe, I should probably get dinner on. But....

A description of my day would not be complete without a picture of my badge I wore today. My CAT badge. Oh yes.

Bye now!

Day 22 — A website: I just adore the blog and paintings of Anna Emilia... so whimsical. (Her photos are inspiring too!)

Day 23 — A YouTube video: I'm looking forward to seeing this movie, Fair Game.

Day 24 — Whatever tickles your fancy: Not too long till spring!

Dutchdoor Press

I love love these prints from Dutchdoor Press available on their etsy. I would be over the moon to have one of these beauties hanging on the wall.

massachusetts (from birds and blooms of the 50 states)

maine (from birds and blooms of the 50 states)

I don't think I'll ever get sick of letterpress. Right now I'm learning Lithography. It is the most confusing and longest process of printing I think there is and I feel as if I am Amish doing it. But I am keen to learn as much as possible while I am at uni, so bring it on!

Day 21

Day 21 — A recipe:

I found this recipe from Emma's (from red velvet blog) personal blog From Scratch. I really want to try them, and definitely will next time shopping day rolls around!

Chick Pea Burgers

Chickpeaburger

Chick Pea Burgers. Makes around 6 medium to large patties.

Ingredients: 3 cans of chick peas (which are also called garbanzo beans) 1 small white onion, 1 spicy pepper (i forget the kind I used, it was from my dad's garden, and it was skinny and red if that helps), 2-3 garlic nubs, 2 eggs, bread crumbs (2 slices of toast chopped up) and salt and pepper to taste.

First, finely chop the onion and garlic. Take the seeds and "veins" (gross, right?) out the the pepper and chop him up too. In a blender or food processor blend together 2 cans of rinsed chick peas, eggs, onion, garlic, and the pepper. You don't need to liquefy it, just blend it together. Pour this mixture into a bowl and add in the remaining can of rinsed and roughly chopped chickpeas, bread crumbs, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix together by hand and then divide and shape into patties. I don't use all of them at once so I wrap them in plastic wrap and freeze them until I am hungry.

I really love reading this blog (she's a vegetarian too!) because it is so hard studying and trying to come up with yummy and exciting things to make. I'm getting better and more confident in the kitchen, my main issue is making sure we eat enough greens!!! (oh, look at me. I sound like a nana already).

And yeah... this one is a day late. L xo

Day 20

Day 20 — A hobby of yours:

Soo.. having a boyfriend that likes to play computer games eventually turns me into a game playing geek. My latest game I've been spending my (essay writing) time is Portal.

The box art for the PC version of Portal.

Oh dear.... L xo

Day 19

Day 19 — A talent of yours:

So... I can hula hoop good. I still own one, though I haven't got it out since we spent the summer at James' a couple of years ago. I once timed myself, maybe when I was around 12 years old. I did it for 30 mins before realizing it was completely pointless and stopped. Yup....

These photos are all from weheartit. And these are the only good ones... lots of freaks. Look them up! I dare you!

Day 18

Day 18: Whatever tickles your fancy.

I want to live in a house this cute one day, I'll have to have more trees and gardens though.

And this tattoo by Amanda Wachob is beautiful, it looks like a painting!

My Mondays are super tiring and busy, I have an intense theory class in the morning and work all afternoon. Time to settle in with some Potato and Leek Soup.

Day 16 & 17

Day 16 — A song that makes you cry (or nearly)
I couldn't embed the video but a song that has made me cry before is Hoppipolla by Sigur ros, I think mainly for the super sweet video (though a lot of their songs can have a same effect). It doesn't take much for me to get a bit teary eyed.

Day 17 — An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)
Here are the works I did for my drawing brief:
