Day 3

Favourite Tv Show: This is embarrassingly easy, and much to James' dismay my favourite is Gilmore Girls. I like so many good quality and underrated shows but Gilmore Girls is my go-to when I'm bored.

I own all the seasons on Dvd, but this cover makes me cringe because it's so retarded. The Backpack:

Oh GG, you have taught me so many witticisms... Haters gonna hate.

Drifting Drifters

I followed this little project Booooooom put together for it's readers to gather any natural materials, feathers, flowers, driftwood, leaves - pretty much anything), and create a wee boat. They then asked the participants to take a photo of their little drifter in the water and take part in a day by the water for everyone to float their boats. I thought it was very sweet and some of the boats are really imaginative and pretty:

I can't wait for summer!

Day 2

Day Two is my favourite movie... That would probably be Factory Girl, but I like a lot of movie nearly equally. I can't commit, but for now I will for the sake of this exercise.

Bye July

Another month is nearly over. It's kinda hard to believe we are in the middle of winter here in Auckland, the weather has, on majority, been beautiful and sunny. I'm so lucky. It's been a busy but good two weeks back at uni, I've done a bit of drawing which I will post pictures of when my assessment is over. James and I saw Inception on opening night, pretty bitchin'. I found this vertical that I thought was funny:

Fancy That

I like it when Barack and I are on the same page.

Mr. Martel --

My daughter and I just finished reading Life of Pi together. Both of us agreed we prefer the story with animals.

It is a lovely book -- an elegant proof of God, and the power of storytelling.

Thank you.

Life of Pi

I am nearly half way through a book by Yann Martel, Life of Pi. I have been so busy that its taken me a while to get into it, but now I can't put it down. It's beautifully written, and there is one particular part in the book that I found especially lovely and relevant to myself:

To lose a brother is to lose someone with whom you can share the experience of growing old, who is supposed to bring you a sister-in-law and nieces and nephews, creatures to people the tree of your life and give it new branches. To lose your father is to lose the one whose guidance and help you seek, who supports you like a tree trunk supports its branches. To lose your mother, well, that is like losing the sun above you.

Foyer Project

As 2nd years in my degree we get to partake in an ongoing exhibition displayed in the foyers of our building. It's a great opportunity and I was excited to get a chance to put up something that wasn't attached to a brief. Unfortunately my exhibiting week fell just as I came down with that terrible virus, and my mid-year assessment. So I didn't manage to get anything decent together. I ended up displaying an A5 four colour separation print... and in a bout of arsehole-artist confidence I shoved my pot plant in there too. A poor effort, but it had to do. I didn't manage to get a photo of it during that time, so I had to recreate it this week so I could document it:

One more week of holidays left, I could do with a few more. Went to Jessica Jeans 21st last night which was fabulous. Such a pleasure to catch up with old friends and it made me realise how much I miss you all!

Winter Comforts

I've been really enjoying these holidays. I haven't done much (I will start that theory assignment soon, I swear!). Apart from waking late and making a cooked breakfast with hot coffee every morning I have had the pleasure of catching up with friends I don't see enough.

We had a sleep over with Jess, Sam, their friend James and Nick

And last night I made a yummy Vegetable and Tofu Curry. It was delicious and perfect for a chilly winter night. Just have to burn the house down to get the smell out....

Whip It

A bunch of photos from the movie Whip It have just been hearted on weheartit.com and it reminded me that I really enjoyed this film! I went with my bud Polly and we had a great time feeling awesome about being a strong, independent girl... haha. But seriously, we left feeling motivated and wanting to bash everyone in the face. Drew Barrymore is hilarious, as well as directing it, and Ellen Page is super cute and feisty. I wish she wasn't referred to as "that girl from Juno" because her acting deserves more credibility. (I love Juno, don't get me wrong).

I talk about movies way too much on here... I'll work on that. On a surprising note, I got my marks back today for my mid-year assessment and I did ok! I wasn't expecting much since I was incredibly sick when I handed it in and it was nowhere near what I wanted to do. Now I just need to get better at the theory part...
